Project Summary
This is a private commission for a young family who need more storage space for their terraced house in East London. A Small Studio suggested it was a perfect opportunity to build a space that doubles up as a playhouse for the young toddlers. The project quickly became about designing a playhouse and storage shed using permitted development rights.  The design is practical and convenient for storage while playful and secretive for the kids. Importantly, it is designed to be flexible; this means that in the future the inner partition can be easily removed and the shed becomes a larger playhouse for the kids or a small home office. This is a great project involving collaboration with a children's illustrator and working closely with a carpenter. A Small Studio is very excited with this commission!
